About the Ghanian Community and Culture
I’d describe Ghana as a 'home' full of color, humor, music and culture. The term 'home' relates because of it's strong sense of community and great respect for people, particulary elderly and family members. When most people think of Ghana they think of poverty, finacial difficulty and poor living condidtions which is all very true however, regardless of these situations Ghanians simply enjoy the simple things in life that most of us may take for granted. There is a major need for financial support in these villages but what connects you more to them is that even having nothing but a community you can be happy and enjoy life. They take their traditional and cultural values extremely seriously. Everything is shared in Ghana, no matter how big or small particualry food. Ghanaians consider “let’s get to business” conversation rude. In Ghana, people are far more important than schedules and it is custom for Ghanaians to exchange pleasantries and ask about family before beginning business.
We hope you can gain a strong sense of community from the description above and that's why Akoma Mór has joined two very different cultures to create one strong community. The poverty in Ghana is extreme and in Kokrobite people are struggling more now than ever. Akoma Mór doesn't only provide economic support to those that are struggling but it keeps businesses going during these tough times and with the hope to allow the tailors to develop their shops, employ more people and support their families with a living wage.
